Bad movies

Somehow during all the hubbub over the remake of Funny Games, I didn't remember that I'd seen the original already. I Netflixed again this weekend. It's a really good movie with a lot of intensity, very well-acted. The parts where one of the psychopaths speaks directly to the camera are a little off-putting and a scene where he grabs a remote and rewinds to undo a bad thing are annoying and pretentious though. Over all it's a good flick, but I don't think I'll bother with the remake.

I also Netflixed a movie called Who Can Kill a Child. It's about this English couple who go to vacation on island in Spain where all the adults are missing. It's basically Children of the Corn but really slow and boring. I'm about halfway through it now and I'm trying to motivate myself to finish it because I'm kinda not caring. The weird thing is the first 15 minutes or so of the movie are taken up by the long credit sequence interspersed with documentary footage of war atrocities. We get lovely images of the Holocaust, the Korean and Viet-Nam wars, and civil war in Nigeria. Lots of emaciated dead children. Not quite sure what the point of that is, but maybe if I bother to watch the rest I'll get what they're trying to tell me.

I haven't been up to much. I'm so poor I can't pay attention. Even with the second job, I am not getting caught up on my bills. I'm considering alternative measures because the Powerball isn't happening.

I have started about a half dozen knit or crochet projects and only finished about one or two. I made another hat (camo w/orange skull) and tried to make several iPod covers. I planted a seed last night so I think Rebecca is going to knit one of those up for me for my birthday.

Speaking of birthdays, Kayla's 8 today. I'm still a lousy aunt because I haven't sent a card to anyone in, like, forever. I actually talked to my sister briefly last week. I've tried to call a couple times, but no one's been home. Oh well, some folks have a life.

I'm just rambling now. Gonna go pick through my yarn and try to find something new to do.
