Do the Double Dip

With the release of the remake of My Bloody Valentine in 3-D coming out tomorrow, a new special edition of the original film was put out on Tuesday. This version features an additional 9 minutes of footage cut from the original release. I am trying to decide if I want to spend another $13.99 on a movie I already paid for once before. Is 9 minutes of gore really worth it?

Better question: I own the Friday the 13th box set which was put out a few years ago. Now to coincide with the release of the remake of that film, the first 3 movies are being re-released with additional footage. Now, I will gladly spend another $11.99 to get Pt. 3 in the original 3-D because that's just awesome, but to buy that film yet again (I also have the first 4 on VHS as well as that box set) for a whole 34 seconds of footage (which can be seen on the special features disc of the box set) would be insane, even if times weren't financially tough.

As for MBV 3-D, it will be playing in 3-D at 4 cinemas in the area, including Rosedale, Southdale, and MOA. I have tomorrow off for a doctor's appointment (and well, just because I like 4 days off instead of just 3), so I think I will head over to Southdale after my appointment and check that out. Hopefully, it won't be too crowded at 12:45 on a Friday afternoon. The damn kids should be in school and most other people should be at work.

I'm kind of nervous about this one. The odds that it will hold up to the original film are slim to none really, but I don't expect that. I really only hope that it is better than a lot of the slasher fare that has made it to the big screen in recent years. I don't want another Rob Zombie's Halloween.

I am going to try to keep an open mind and enjoy myself for frig's sake. I am tired of not enjoying movies and stuff. My doctor's appointment tomorrow is for me to potentially get some happy pills because sh*t is bleak right now. I'm just depressed and attempts at positive thinking aren't doing the trick. I don't expect magic, but I'd sure like a little fairy dust.
